JetBlue Airways Announces Plans to Offer Barbados - New York Flights
24 September 2009 01:28 pm
NEW YORK, April 23, 2009 JetBlue Airways announces plans to continue its successful international expansion with new service this fall to the Caribbean island of Barbados, subject to receipt of government operating authority.

JetBlue intends to begin daily nonstop flights year-round between Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport -- where connections to cities across the United States are available -- on Oct. 1, 2009. Flights are expected to go on sale in June at www.jetblue.com.

Barbados is one of 12 international locations on JetBlue's growing route map, and one of the more than 50 destinations throughout the Americas to boast JetBlue's award-winning service. In addition to its new Barbados flights, JetBlue will also begin new service to Jamaica on May 21.

JetBlue will operate its Barbados service with spacious 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The A320 offers travelers all of the amenities for which JetBlue has become well-regarded: complimentary seatback television programming including free first-run movies, comfortable leather seats, the most legroom in coach of any U.S. airline (a), unlimited free snacks and industry-leading customer service.

"JetBlue is proud to offer our customers even more choice with the addition of new daily service between New York and Barbados," said Scott Laurence, JetBlue's vice president of network planning. "We look forward to welcoming New Yorkers and Barbadians alike to JetBlue with low fares and the promise of a great travel experience. Whether you're headed on holiday or reconnecting with family and friends, JetBlue gets you there in style and comfort, and without breaking the bank."

In applauding the new JetBlue service from JFK, the Barbados Minister of Tourism, the Honorable Richard Sealy, stated that he was happy to welcome the JetBlue service to Barbados: "The carrier has an excellent reputation in the industry and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership," he said. "The additional service fits in perfectly with Government's strategy of increasing our levels of business out the US market."
