About the
Show
“One
Caribbean” This is the theme for this year’s Queen of the Holetown Festival
pageant to be held at The St. James Secondary School on Sunday, February 22,
2009.
The
idea behind the theme is to sensitize the contestants about the countries
under the CSME agreement and to familiarize them with the reasoning for the
CSME. As a result a new segment has been introduced, that of the
Introductory speech where each contestant will speak for a minute and a half
about their adopted country, themselves and their sponsor. The other
segments of the show are, Talent, swimwear, Evening Wear and Question and
Answer.
Six
contestants will vie for the coveted title of Miss Holetown, which has been
the longest continuously run pageant on the Island, celebrating its 27th
anniversary this year. The winner will go on to represent Barbados at The
Miss Jaycess Caribbean Queen Show to be held in Antigua on July 31, 2009.
Appearances by 2005 Queen Princess Best, Billy Kincaid, Dancin Africa and
Fusion are some of the performers headlining at the February 22 show,
starting at 7:30 p.m.
