Biography

Within each of us lies the ability for greatness. For most it remains a dream, but for a few IT'S DESTINY! With his Intoxicating vocals, smooth stage performance and lyrics that are both honest & heartfelt; Don Trent stands poised and ready to make his musical mark.

However, Don is no stranger to Bright Lights and Big Stages! From the tender age of 8, he became a member of the St. George's Cathedral Choir. At 14 he sang with Voices of Israel choral group at the Hebrew Cultural Centre and with the Four Seasons R&B group at St. Rose's High School in his native Georgetown, Guyana.

In 2004 Don Trent migrated to Barbados and collaborated with the a cappella group Feevah Entertainment to create “In De Session”. Originally recorded by Darron Grant and later remixed by Junior “Ibo” Joseph and Kevin Rondon at Dancing Dread Studios in Trinidad, “In De Session” was released in 2005 and enjoyed popularity on radio and clubs around the island.
2006 marked the emergence of Don as legitimate Artiste. He subsequently released “Papi” - a self-penned latin flavoured ballad, “Anxiety” – a fusion of alternative rock and Soca both produced by Peter Coppin of Monstapiece; and “Start De Carnival” which he co-arranged with the song's writer Terry Arthur, formerly of the Soca supergroup Square One.

Now in 2007, “Me and You” the soulful smash hit (composed by the Red Boyz and Foreigner Frank) has Don's name on the lips of Soca fans everywhere. Having charted in Barbados, Canada, England, New York and Miami; “Me and You” remains in heavy rotation and widely requested on many Caribbean stations.

Don describes his songwriting as “a movement towards a universal style” characterized by a fusion of Soca with alternative rock, Latin rhythms, R&B, Indian, classical beats, reggae, and jazz. He strives for an authentic Caribbean blend. Most recently he‘s been co-writing songs for Soca Diva Alison Hinds with the Mighty Gabby and the legendary Van Gibbs.

Currently Don Trent is working on his debut album set for release by 2008.
