Biography

Ayana John

The “lone bajan chantress”, Ayana John, who first entered  the entertainment scene by making the top ten in the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2005, has shown her vocal versatility by putting out a number of songs ranging from hip-hop and r&b to soca.    Her latest release called ‘Guns ‘n Roses’ is a love song with a tantalizing reggae beat and an infectious chorus.

A delightful combo of styles reminiscent of Tanya Stevens and Lady Saw sets Ayana apart from many other female artistes.  Many audiences have done a double take at this former beauty queen who can bring it raw and real and transition into smooth, sweet vocals at the drop of a hat.  These vocal qualities have earned her a nomination at the 2007 Barbados Music Awards, for the track ‘Bajan Story’ released with Buggy in September 2006 and produced by HitIsland Studio.  These qualities were also the vehicle which took her to Digicel Reggae on Hill 2007 as one of only two female artistes
